WATCH | Tottenham pull off miracle comeback

Tottenham Hotspur has qualified for the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League final courtesy of a miracle comeback in Amsterdam.

Spurs trailed Ajax by a goal heading into the semi-final second leg and when the Dutch giants scored twice in the first half, the mountain to climb had seemingly become too much for the north London club.

But Mauricio Pochettino’s men fought back in remarkable fashion by scoring three second-half goals, including a 96th-minute winner from hat-trick hero Lucas Moura, to win 3-2 on the night and on away goals after it finished 3-3 on aggregate.

Tottenham will now meet Liverpool in the final in Madrid on Sunday morning, June 2 (AEST).

It will be just the third time that two English clubs have met in a major European final and first time since the Manchester United v Chelsea Champions League final in 2008.

Matthis de Ligt, the youngster ever captain in a Champions League semi-final, doubled his side’s overall advantage early with a powerful header from a corner.

Before Hakim Ziyech made it 2-0 on the night with a sensational curling effort after Ajax cut a swathe through the Spurs defence.

But Tottenham gave themselves a glimmer of hope in the 55th minute through Lucas Moura who turned on the afterburners before finishing calmly.

Four minutes later and the Brazilian winger fired home after a goalmouth scramble to make it 2-2 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.

Spurs were pushing hard for a winner and were cruelly denied late in regular time before Lucas Moura etched himself into Tottenham history by completing his hat-trick and a miracle comeback.
