05 Jun Report: Socceroos set to play in 2020 Copa America
Australia has been invited to compete at the 2020 Copa America, according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte.
CONMEBOL have reportedly settled on the Socceroos and Qatar as the countries outside of the confederation who will compete in next year’s tournament in Argentina and Colombia.
The likes of Japan, United States, Mexico and Jamaica have all featured in recent editions of the 12-team competition.
It’s seen as a way for CONMEBOL to strengthen ties with neighbouring confederations such as Asia and CONCACAF.
Qatar and Japan will compete in the 2019 edition of the tournament that gets underway on June 15 when Brazil take on Chile.
