24 Jul Western United seal deal for former Italian international
Western United has added former Italian international Alessandro Diamanti to its inaugural squad for the upcoming A-League season.
Diamanti touched down in Melbourne on Tuesday night and will link up with his new teammates for pre-season training tomorrow.
The 36-year-old playmaker has won 17 caps for Italy and represented the Azzurri at the 2012 European Championships and the 2013 Confederations Cup.
He also boasts an impressive club CV having played for Premier League side West Ham United as well as Fiorentina, Atalanta and Palermo in Italy.
Diamanti retunites with former Brescia and Bologna teammate Panagiotis Kone, who was announced as United's first marquee signing in February.
