03 Aug Reports: Manchester United agree world record fee for England international
Manchester United has agreed an £80m fee to sign Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, according to multiple reports.
Subject to a medical, Maguire will become the most expensive defender in history with personal terms set to be discussed.
The world record fee for a defender is the £75m Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk.
United have chased the 26-year-old England international all summer in a bid to bolster a defence that leaked 54 points last season.
Maguire is set to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s third major signing following the arrivals of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace and Daniel James from Swansea.
