Matildas captain Sam Kerr has sealed her dream move to Europe, signing for English giants Chelsea.
Kerr signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Blues and will join the west Londoners for the second half of the English Women’s Super League season.
The contract is worth a reported $2 million, making the 26-year-old one of the world’s highest paid female footballers.
Prior to joining Chelsea, Kerr had been plying her trade for Perth Glory in the W-League and Chicago Red Stars in the National Women's Soccer League.
"The WSL is the best league in Europe," Kerr said.
"I feel Chelsea have been building something special over the years and I want to be a part of that. I want to lift some trophies."
Kerr finished fifth in last year’s 2018 Ballon d’Or and recently clinched her third straight National Women’s Soccer League golden boot.
The in-form striker has scored 40 goals in her last 40 appearances for both club and country.
Chelsea are currently top of the English Women’s Super League with four wins and a draw from their opening five games.
