Socceroos winger Mathew Leckie remains non-committal about his long-term club future in Germany.

The 28-year-old has played with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga since 2017 but has been struck down by injury for large parts of the current season.

Hertha have recently appointed former USA national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann after a poor start to the season, with the German powerhouse currently in the relegation zone.

Leckie said despite having a contract for next season, he wouldn’t rule out a move if the right opportunity came up.

“I’ve still got two years here, this year and the season after,” SEN SA’s The Round Ball with Dom & Doddsy.

"You never know with football, you never know if you’ll see out your contract or if another one comes up.

“I haven’t really thought about it too much but I’m pretty open minded of where I would go.

“I’d love to have a year in England but it would have to be the right move, it wouldn’t be just to say I’ve played in England. If nothing comes up there, I’ll see what’s going on in Germany.

“I’d like to play a couple of seasons in Australia at some point.”

Australia will play in the Copa America for the first time next year, filling one of the two guests slots in South America’s most prestigious international football tournament.

As a mainstay in the national team, Leckie said he was looking forward to facing the likes of Argentina and Chile in 2020.

“If you look at both groups, doesn’t matter which side you are on, there’s some big, big teams,” he said.

“It’s definitely going to be tough regardless of which group we are in. I saw we have Argentina, Chile and a few others and it’s going to be a good experience for the boys. It will be tough being in South America but it’s a good chance to see where we are at as well. Since Arnie (Graham Arnold) has taken over we haven’t played against too many powerhouses.

“In the recent qualifiers in Asia we’ve done really well so playing against big national teams like the South American ones will be a good chance to see where we are at.”
