08 Dec WATCH | Shades of ’96 Ronaldo in Son’s goal of the season contender
Son Heung-min scored a Premier League goal of the season contender in Tottenham’s 5-0 demolition job of Burnley.
The South Korean international took possession at the top of his side’s defensive box before carrying the ball inside Spurs’ attacking area having seen off a handful of would-be tacklers.
He produced a composed finish to give the north Londoners a 3-0 lead in the 32nd minute at home.

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho compared the goal to that of the great Brazilian Ronaldo Nazario for Barcelona against Compostela back in 1996.
“Even before these goals, my son calls him Sonaldo, Sonaldo Nazario,” he told reporters.
“And today he was Sonaldo Nazario because the only thing that came to my mind is a goal where I had the honour to be sitting next to Sir Bobby Robson, was Compostela v Barcelona in 1996. And Ronaldo Nazario got the ball behind the midfield line and scored a very similar goal to Son.
“It’s the only thing that comes into my mind, amazing goal but important, important performance, result, goals, happiness with the fans, happiness in the teams. Young boys coming from the bench, the debut of a 17-year-old kid (Troy Parrott), the clean sheet, I’m really, really happy.”

Spurs striker Harry Kane also helped himself to a brace with a pair of rockets as his side moved to sixth on the league table. Lucas Moura and Moussa Sissoko were the other scorers.
