Could Mooy move to a Premier League giant?

A move to a Premier League giant may be in the works for Aaron Mooy, Fox Sports football expert Daniel Garb believes.

Mooy was the dominant player on the pitch in a critical 2-0 win for Brighton over fellow relegation scrappers Bournemouth on Saturday night.

Pulling the strings from deep in midfield, Mooy completed 39 of 48 passes and created five chances, the most of any player on the pitch.

The Socceroo had a hand in Iranian forward Alireza Jahanbakhsh’s first Premier League goal, before sealing the result with a touch and goal reminiscent of Arsenal champion Dennis Bergkamp.

“No matter the standard he gets thrown into, Aaron Mooy rises with it,” Garb told SEN Mornings.

“Early on at Brighton it wasn’t going too well for him. He wasn’t on the team sheet, he got a red card in one game,” he added.

“(Graham Potter) gave him enough chances to show his quality and he’s now delivering. He’s their main man running the show.”

Mooy is on a season-long loan with the Seagulls after three years at Huddersfield, but Garb believes a permanent recall is unlikely with the Terriers languishing in 19th in the Championship.

“Huddersfield were probably thinking ‘if we get back into the Premier League we might recall him from loan, so we’ve got another experienced player to bring into our campaign without having to spend too much money,’ but I can’t see that happening,” he explained.

“I think a big club will come in for Aaron Mooy, if Brighton don’t spend big to sign him outright.

“Without a doubt he’s a player that will be in the Premier League with either Brighton or another club for next season.”

Struggling Arsenal loom as a potential suitor with Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka seeking a move back to the Bundesliga in January.

Mooy and Brighton will next take on Chelsea on New Year’s Day.
