22 Jan Report: Celtic defender joins A-League club on loan
Melbourne City has signed Celtic defender Jack Hendry on loan, according to the Herald Sun’s David Davutovic.
Hendry, 24, joins as cover for Austrian Richard Windbichler who is expected to miss at least six weeks with a hamstring injury.
Capped by Scotland three times, Hendry has been starved of opportunities under Neil Lennon, making just one 11-minute appearance in the Scottish League Cup.
In contrast, he appeared 27 times under former coach Brendon Rodgers before he was replaced by Lennon last February.
It’s not yet confirmed whether City want to keep Hendry until season’s end, but Windbichler’s hamstring woes could see the Scot remain for the rest of the campaign.
Erick Mombaerts’ men sit second in the A-League, two points ahead of in-form Perth Glory who have a game in hand.
City face the Glory at AAMI Park on Friday night.
