27 Feb UCL: De Bruyne inspires stirring Manchester City comeback, Ronaldo’s Juventus stunned
Manchester City staged a stirring late comeback to beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 blockbuster clash.
Isco opened the scoring for Los Blancos on the hour mark before Gabriel Jesus’ header restored parity for City with 20 minutes remaining.
Just five minutes later, substitute Raheem Sterling was brought down in the box with City talisman Kevin De Bruyne converting the resulting penalty to stun the Santiago Bernabeu.
To make matters worse for Real, captain Sergio Ramos was sent off for bringing down Jesus who was bearing down on goal.
Ramos will crucially miss the second leg at the Etihad Stadium on March 17.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus slumped to a surprise 1-0 loss to French side Lyon at Groupama Stadium
Lucas Tousart netted the only goal in the first half as the Italian champions failed to register a shot on target.
It leaves the tie precariously placed ahead of the return leg in Turin.
